On Thursday, December 7, 2017, the NHS students led an organized effort to prepare 300+ bagged lunches to distribute to the homeless and those in need.  Students solicited food donations from BDS stakeholders and rallied fellow students to work together to prep 300 sandwiches, along with fruit, snacks and water and assembled 300 brown bagged meals.

Students then walked through various areas of downtown Baltimore on Friday delivering lunches to pockets of the city where they found citizens in need.  “It felt really good being able to feed someone who was hungry, but it was also cool to connect with people that usually get ignored” said 12th grade student Hayden F.  “I am so proud of my students, prepping meals for BDS’ First Day of Service event to feed those less fortunate. BDS is helping youth shape their impact on the world, one meal at a time” said school counselor Shannon Hayes.

The National Honor Society has several events planned over the course of the 2017/18 school year, taking pride in making a difference in themselves and the world around them.
