This weekend 13 BDS students signed up to compete in the inaugural Panda-Monium gaming competition that was hosted by Futures First Gaming.  The BDS Board of Trustees sponsored 7 students to compete, and RSN e-Sportz. sponsored 4 students, and launched a  growing partnership.

8th grader Deshaun B. competed in 5 matches of Fortnight and took the grand prize, winning the overall Fortnight tournament.

Excellent job Deshaun!

We look forward to hearing how the remaining students faired in the competition.

Why are e-sports important?  First and foremost, in these times, it’s giving students a chance to connect and compete. But in the larger picture, this is an important feature we hope to bring to BDS as part of our efforts to support math and literacy and inform students of the increasingly high paying job market that this industry has created.  More to come on that soon!  In the meantime, we celebrate our students for being the first to compete in such an event at this level.
