Volunteer
BDS has a continuous need for volunteers throughout the year.
We are seeking dedicated and committed volunteers to assist us in the following areas: classroom substitutes, tutoring support, library support, volunteers for BDS stakeholder nights, event support, student support as hallway and lunchroom monitors, and dismissal aides. If you are interested in volunteering, email us at clfrederick@bcps.k12.md.us. Please include your volunteer area of interest in the subject line of the email.
All volunteers must undergo a background check (unless you are already employed by BCPSS).

Community Partnerships
When a vision is shared with great partners, a lot can happen.
Maryland Institute College of Art supports student enrichment opportunities, curriculum and professional development. MICA also provides interns and student teachers, library support as well funding for a CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA partnership.

Morgan State University provides student enrichment opportunities as well as curriculum and professional development to BDS.

BDS serves as a professional development school for Loyola University’s Teacher Training Program. Interns are placed with BDS faculty and enrich the learning environment as they work with their mentors and BDS students.

The Enoch Pratt Free Library actively supports BDS as we enhance our literature assortment and improve our library environment for our students.

Wide Angle Youth Media teaches students video and graphic design skills and allows them to apply their skills in professional projects for real clients, as well as their own personal design projects.

Under Armour has been a strong advocate for BDS. Through their Creative Academia efforts they offer special workshops, after school or in the summer; they welcome student site visits; and provide guest designers for lectures and critiques.

The University of Baltimore offers dual enrollment to a cohort of high school seniors. Successful students have the opportunity to earn college credits.

Open Works offers teen maker workshops for students. Students learn valuable skills in textiles, 3D printing, laser cutting and electronics. BDS students enhance their design skills as they work with mentors on projects and portfolios.
