The Baltimore Design School's Family Matters event was impressive this week as our partners at Natural Born Champions collaborated with Okonta Solutions to host an employment workshop focused on Career Exploration and Workforce Development.

Mrs. Robin Okonta led the interactive session with a discussion and demonstration of the components of employment documents that are necessary for a competitive edge in the workforce marketplace.  Participants learned the difference between a job. and a career and explored the Do’s & Don’ts of a great resume.  They discussed the hard and soft skills that should go into a resume, no matter where in their career the writer is at.  Ms. Okonta defined the art of writing a skilled cover letter and then families went to work brainstorming strategies for writing their own resumes and cover letters.

The Community School coordinator prepared a home-cooked meal for families and everyone mingled over a warm curry…the way a fantastic event should always end!
