So excited to have our first cohort of pioneers start with the Schuster Foundation’s riding program at Johnnycake Farm🚜! Students were welcomed by program director Ms. Sarah, Ms. April – volunteer and owner of Sugar (a lovely thoroughbred), and Quinn – Goucher College intern.
They learned about safely handling yourself around horses 🐴; that horses have feelings, emotions, and past experiences that we need to learn to read to better communicate with them.
Students learned about their diet, the importance of companionship, and the different steps in grooming.
In addition to learning how to ride, students will also help care for the beautiful (& powerful) animals each week.
Thank you to Ms. Yvette for driving! The community school specialist got a break and was able to join the kids in learning! #magical
