BDS Fashion Students exhibit during the 3rd Annual Eco-Warriors of the Future Schools Competition Awards Ceremony and Breakfast
The live modeling gave audience members a different appreciation for the students’ design work, as they were able to stop and view the details and craftsmanship of the work.
A special invitation on behalf of the Mayor’s Office and the Department of Public Works (DPW) was extended to Baltimore Design School for students to participate in the 3rd Annual Eco-Warriors of the Future Schools Competition Awards Ceremony and Breakfast held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
After attending our school’s Student Showcase and Fashion Show on May 14, they said they were “deeply impressed with the exceptional creativity and craftsmanship on display. Sustainable fashion designs and art pieces, in particular, demonstrated both environmental consciousness and artistic innovation. One standout example was the tree sculpted from paper, was nothing short of extraordinary. ”
In recognition of our students’ talent and commitment to sustainability, they worked with BDS’ CTE teachers to feature a curated selection of student work during this year’s Eco-Warrior event.
Mrs. Cafaro-Edwards described the opportunity as a wonderful experience for students. While our fashion designers are familiar with runway modeling for our annual fashion show, serving as live models on a platform was a little intimidating. After they got the hang of it, our students did an exceptional job and loved it. Younger students from other schools engaged with the BDS models, requesting pictures with them. “It was adorable,” said Cafaro.
Overall, Cafaro noted that live modeling gave audience members a different appreciation for the students’ design work, as they were able to stop and view the details and craftsmanship of the work.
One BDS scholar was so inspired by the Eco-Warrior event, she plans on working with Mrs. Johnson, BDS Science teacher, to initiate a compost program.
The Mayor’s office and DPW acknowledged Baltimore Design School’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability during the program.
