From Cannon Design:

CannonDesign Baltimore office proudly hosted its 7th Annual Designer For A Day!

Students from elementary through high school spent the day exploring the AEC industry through hands‑on learning, interactive challenges, and real conversations with our team on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The day started with our host
Roberto Cruz Niemiec greeted all of the visitors for the day and spoke about CannonDesign. They then dove into Education with Michael Glaros, AIA, LEED AP BDC Healthcare with Moumita Banik Mou, Graphic Design with
Greg Koch. After lunch students were able to learn about Deja the Dynamo book and DEI with Sharla Toller. Engineering with building BOTS with May Hmoo, Daniel Beatty, AIA, NCARB and Moumita and about Open Hand Studio Projects with Nidra Williams.

The elementary and middle school students explored engineering in a big way, too, with the Spaghetti Tower building challenge with Rachel Mensah, NOMAS and Cashmere.

All students had the chance to step onto our beautiful terrace for a design session led by CannonDesign Baltimore Lead Designer, Monica Pascatore.

A huge thank‑you to the schools who joined us: Baltimore City College, BALTIMORE DESIGN SCHOOL INC , Belair‑Edison Elementary, Belair‑Edison Middle School, Baltimore International Academy East, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School-Baltimore, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, and Polytechnic High School.

We were honored to welcome Assistant Deputy Mayor Noell West and Councilman James Torrence, J.D. , District 7. Your presence and encouraging words about education, leadership, and the limitless potential of Baltimore’s students made a powerful impact.

And a special shout‑out to our former interns — Cashmere Greer, Isaiah Vann-Preston, Jayvian Colon, and Leona Isabella Guiyab— for returning to support, inspire, and pour into the next generation.

What an exciting and beautiful day for our community. We are thankful of all the support from our neighbor, DC office, and their Admin Camille Williams-Deveaney, who came to the Baltimore office extra early to assist with last-minute items and for the day.

Here’s to Year 7 — and to an even bigger, brighter Year 8!
