US News & World Report released the 2024 Best High School Ranking List on April 23. Institutions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia are included in the rankings, which are ranked nationally and within each state. Maryland high school students are assessed in English language arts and math through the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program and in science through the Maryland Integrated Science Assessments. Of the nearly 25,000 U.S. public high schools reviewed, 210 Maryland schools made the list.

Baltimore Design School was number one in Baltimore City Public High Schools and seventh in the Baltimore Metro area. Factors that determine rankings include data from the College Readiness Index, College Curriculum Breadth Index, State Assessment Proficiency and Performance scores, and school graduation rates.  BDS is ranked 14th of the 255 Maryland High Schools reviewed and 831st nationally.
