On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Associated Student Congress of Baltimore City (ASCBC) hosted the Fall 2025 General Assembly for student members in grades 5 – 12 across the city. “The Associated Student Congress of Baltimore City is Baltimore’s student government body, responsible for developing student leaders, representing youth at the district level, and advocating the views of City Schools students.”  (ASCBC.com)

BDS’ own Executive President, Isaiah Gregory, ’26, is also the Elected President for the 25/26 ASCBC, leading team members in planning and executing the assembly. Student-led workshops covered topics such as ‘Public Speaking & Workshop Facilitation’, ‘Time Management and Building Capacity’, and ‘Budget Basics for Student Leaders.’

Student member groups were transported from schools throughout the city to participate in the opportunity for professional development.  This Community School Site Specialist had the opportunity to ‘chaperone’ a class led by two 8th-grade students.  Their level of preparedness and facilitation was impressive, as was their ability to tweak their presentation for the age groups of two separate sessions.  The decorum that the student participants exhibited showed they were ready and eager to learn.

Mr. Gregory was joined by his BDS SGA Executive Committee members Ameera M. and Science M.  Together with the ASCBC members and adult staff delivered an impactful day for all involved.

Pictures include a very PROUD BDS Community School Site Specialist, who had the privilege of assisting for a bit.
