Baltimore Design School recently welcomed several distinguished partners in support of the school’s literacy initiative, including Mrs. Patricia Handal, a generous contributor and literacy partner; Mr. Carl Stokes, education consultant and co-founder of the Bluford Drew Jemison STEM Academy; Ms. Tamika Winkler from the Office of Senator Cory McCray; Ms. Patrice Hutton of Writers in Baltimore Schools; Principal Brozene; Ms. Freel; and a proud group of BDS students. The group participated in a walking tour, discussing the schools’ literacy goals, programming in place, professional learning communities that support academic growth, as well as a dynamic library and the power of extra-curricular literacy opportunities like Writers in Baltimore Schools. The generosity of key partnerships helps to expand learning pathways.
