Senior Architecture students continued the annual tradition of participating in International Park(ing) Day.  We were excited to see the Baltimore Sun and WMAR 2 News onsite capturing the project construction (The Channel 2 excerpt should run on the 5pm news this evening). Thanks to former BDS student and professional photographer, Kenyetta Riddick for snapping the above pics.  Now we need to find out what they did with Principal Brozene’s car!

Here’s the event re-cap from Mr. O’Hara with project details.

Good morning BDS Architecture students, families, and friends,

Today our Architecture Senior class erected their collaborative Park(ing) Day mini park, designed by Camryn Griffin in collaboration Da’len Reeves, for International Park(ing) day. (https://www.myparkingday.org/).

Every senior designed a mini park, and then the class voted to determine who’s would be built. It was then constructed before hand in the Arch classroom by the whole Arch senior class. They did a great job getting everything done and ready, and we
were able to get the park built and erected today, in the parking spot of our generous principal, Mr. Brozene. We had fun trouble shooting on the spot when the effects of the wind had a bigger role to play in the design then we anticipated, but the seniors
worked as a group and solved the problem, completing their mini park with success.

We had a few visitor join in the fun, including a few members of the BDS Board of directors, a photographer from The Baltimore Sun, and a crew from local news station ABC Chanel 2. They captured the creation of the mini park, and interviewed senior designer
Camryn, and myself, Mr. O’Hara. The interviews and video will be live on channel 2 news, this evening, September 15th, during the 5:00 pm news hour. After it goes live, it will be available to watch on ABCNews.com.

Ms. Zaeh and myself are very proud of the design thinking, and collaborative problem solving that our seniors exhibited, contributing to their success, and would love for you all to go and watch the interview on ABC news, channel 2, this evening, or check
it out online, again at abcnews.com.

Thanks,
Mr. O’Hara
