Classes: 8th Grade Studio Art/ 9th Grade Fundamentals of Art
Background/Expertise in Content Area: I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in ’07 with my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in painting. In ’08 I graduated from MICA with my Master of Art in Teaching (MAT). In the Spring of 2012 I met the standards for the Model Pathway in Baltimore City and became a Model Teacher (Cohort I). I am the Art/Design Department Lead and assist in leading my team by example. I continue to grow as an educator each year by learning best practices from my colleagues, professionals and, most importantly, my students.
I joined the BDS Family because…My educational philosophy aligns very closely with the mission of the Baltimore Design School. I am an artist and creator and have a love for teaching the arts. I had several amazing art teachers and mentors throughout my life and I want to provide that type of support system that I was given as a developing artist. I hope to share my passion and knowledge with my students and provide them with an amazing experience within my studio!
Fun fact about me: I did gymnastics for 17 years…and can still do a handstand and a cartwheel!
