Baltimore City Public Schools offers several career advancement pathways to encourage school leaders to strive for roles like Transformational Principal and Distinguished Principal to gain new experiences, perspectives, and opportunities that advance initiatives to transform the educational model towards student success.
BCPSS acknowledges that "strong leadership changes schools, connects communities, and enhances student learning. Whether leading elementary, middle, or high school, our school leaders go above and beyond every day to make a difference. Retaining these talented leaders and ensuring they are fulfilled, challenged, and growing is a crucial component of progress for students and staff."
Baltimore Design School proudly announces that Principal Darrin Brozene has been awarded 'Transformational Principal' status. According to an
interview during the 2023 National Principal's Month, Principal Brozene was described as someone who "has worked his way through the educational system, gaining experience at each level which has enabled him to lead through that experience."
The recognition afforded by the district is welcomed, however, Brozene stresses that the transformational Principal "status illustrates the vision and work of the students, staff, and school community." He started the year with Team BDS jerseys, reiterating that we are all stakeholders in this work. "We are unified in our mission to support college and career readiness, and our data demonstrates strong growth in key areas," he says. "This distinction is truly the work of all individuals in support of student achievement".
